Biography
Savannah completed her B.A. in Medical Humanities at Columbia, with a minor in Russian Language & Culture. Her undergraduate thesis focused on the HIV/AIDS crisis in Russia and the employment of punitive social models in prison and society at large. She is primarily interested in the works of queer and female Russophone writers, especially the formation of identity and solidarity in contrast to mainstream political aggression. Savannah has also worked in social services with the Russian-speaking community in Brighton Beach, and has taught ESL classes to new immigrants.
