Boris Gasparov Interviewed by T-Invariant

Boris Gasparov (Boris Bakhmeteff Professor Emeritus of Russian and East European Studies) gave an interview to T-Invariant about the war in Ukraine and the effect it has had on education and scholarship in general and his own work in particular. Gasparov, one of the founders of the humanities program at the St. Petersburg branch of the Higher School of Economics, severed ties with the institution after the February 24, 2022, invasion of Ukraine, and abandoned his book project on the social realist novel. Instead, he has embarked on a new project titled “The Subject Dethroned,” which considers, among other things, the philosophical roots of early German Romanticism.
