Yuri Shevchuk in Demand as Expert on Ukrainian Film and Culture

Yuri Shevchuk (Senior Lecturer in Ukrainian) has been in high demand for his expertise in Ukrainian film and Ukrainian language and culture more generally. In June 2022 he presented a lecture on “Ukrainian Culture in the Context of Russian Aggression” to students and faculty of the School of Diplomacy of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Madrid). That same month Shevchuk introduced the Ukrainian historical drama The Guide, directed by Oles Sanin at the public screening in the US Congress Rayburn Building, part of the national campaign Stand with Ukraine, which raised $160,000 for humanitarian relief.

Recent media appearances include interviews about  the global nature of Ukrainian culture for the Ukrainian-language program of Polish Radio (Warsaw); the interview “Ukrainian Films with Ukrainians,” which appeared in KinoRatsti the Latvian film industry magazine; and several appearances with commentary and analysis on the Unified Ukrainian National TV Marathon.
